Healthy Eating in a Nutshell
So like many on their quest to eating healthier and eating to look better, I have come across many different diets. Some are higher carb, some are mainly plants, some do not contain dairy and some are high in fat.
My beliefs on healthy eating have been formed and shaped by various documentaries and from some real life experience. One of the biggest influences on my attitude towards healthy eating has been from the leading Crossfit Coach Ben Bergeron and Dr Mark Hyman. If you hear them talk about nutrition and healthy food they have very similar ideas.
Their view on food and healthy eating is not too look better, but too live a longer and better life with lower rates of getting sick and chronic illnesses. They both send by the point that chronic disease is most cases is very much behavioural, and is influenced by the crap we put into our body over time.
So to significantly reduce your chances of getting these chronic diseases such as:
- Diabetes
- Cancer
- Asthma
- Alzheimer
Try the following:
- Eat mainly real food (grown from the ground) . Think greens.
- Meat counts as real food but consider this a side to your meal and not the biggest portion of it.
- Go easy on fruits
- Limit dairy products to a minimum
- Eat things that don’t come in a package.
- Eat 3 meals a day
These are just some of the things I believe can be done to help people eating healthier and living longer.
Over some of the following posts I hope to share why I believe this and some of my experiences, including going vegan for almost a year.
